Last month, news came out that the University of Miami had broken numerous collegiate violations. Since then, it has been chaos for the football team due to discussions of very serious punishments. For those that do not already know, Miami was found guilty for accepting benefits from a fan named Nevin Shapiro. He supposedly provided the football players with money, prostitutes, nice cars, and even his mansion for parties. Names such as Andre Johnson and Willis Mcgahee were brought up as players that received these benefits. For now, eight players on the team are suspended, notably star quarterback, Jacory Harris.
Monday marked the beginning of a new start for the Hurricanes. They opened up their 2011 campaign against their ACC rivals, the Maryland Terripans. The shorthanded Hurricanes were in the game the whole time, but ended up losing by eight. It was a rough start for Miami and no one knows when they will have their players back from suspension, but they are still going to go out on the field every week and fight for a victory.
